President's Message

Members of the Sunset Garden Club, 

This will be my last year serving as your President, and I want to thank all of you for your continued support. It has been my pleasure to serve as your President.  Every year brings new ideas and challenges for all of us, especially in the gardening arena. Our weather is certainly challenging yet the roses always look so beautiful as evidenced at our Flower Show this past April. We had many varieties and a whole table full of abundant color, thanks to the Las Vegas Valley Rose Society and other members who brought their roses in for judging.

I have truly learned a lot this past year and am hopeful that we will have a stellar year with interesting speakers to look forward to. 

I am looking forward to many opportunities that we will continue with, such as gardening, horticulture, landscaping, conservation, floral design and so many other things, a field trip perhaps to Mt. Charleston or Springs Preserve. We also need to support the Nevada Garden Club with any of their events.

Our projects will be: our Annual Flower Show; the Julia Menasco Rose Garden; Penny Pines; and Street Teens as we continue to fulfill our Mission Statement.

I look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces come September. Our first meeting will be September 10, 2024 at noon; and the speaker will be Joyce Stork of the African Violet Society, who will speak about growing African Violets in Nevada. I hope to see you and some new members on September 10th.
